Convinced that everyone forgot her birthday, a forlorn Lucy sat on a park bench sadly gazing at the embellishment on her shoes. She thought the shoes were perfect for a day full of endless possibilities and now she began to question her optimism. She slowly walked home alone, watching a man throwing a Frisbee to his dog, passing a couple holding hands and gazing at one another and a kid carrying a red balloon with great delight as her mood turned from positive to grim. She considered stopping to get herself a cookie or piece of cake to celebrate another year of life. As depression set in she decided against it and headed home. Fumbling at the front door, she turned her key in the lock. Little did she know, a surprise party waited on the other side of the door…
